Computation 9.2 · Recomputing the Hecke action on $C_I$ for $\mathrm{GL}_2/T$
proved
The formulas of A6-2 hold: recomputed by applying explicit coset representatives of IsI/I as Möbius maps to ends in P^1(F_p(t)), with no tree built; the quadratic relation, ω-conjugation and the sheaf-level reading hold.
Computation 9.2.
Holds. With \(T_w=\mathbf 1_{IwI}\), \(\mathrm{vol}(I)=1\), \((T_s-q)(T_s+1)=0\), \((f\ast\varphi)(\gamma)=\int f(g)\varphi(g^{-1}\gamma)\,dg\), the matrices of Computation 6.2 are correct for \(s_1\), \(s_0\) and \(\omega\), over every non-archimedean \(F\). Their sheaf reading in Chen–Yi's \(\mathcal M\) (\(q=v^{-2}\), \(H_s=vT_s\), \(\underline H_s=H_s+v\)) is Chen–Yi (29) with the types \(A_\pm\): IIIa, \(O_{0,0}\): IIIb (\(a=0\)), \(O_{1,m-1}\): IIa, \(O_{0,m}\): IIb for \(s_1\).
- Coset representatives. \(Is_1I/I=\{u(c)s_1I\}_{c\in\mathbb F_q}\), \(u(c)s_1=\begin{pmatrix}c&1\\1&0\end{pmatrix}\); \(Is_0I/I=\{u^-(ct)s_0I\}\) with \(s_0=\begin{pmatrix}0&t^{-1}\\t&0\end{pmatrix}\), justified by \(s_0u(y)s_0=u^-(t^2y)\in I\). Then \((T_s\mathbf 1_O)(\gamma)=\#\{c:\ g_c^{-1}\gamma\in O\}\), and \(g_c^{-1}\) acts on ends by \(z\mapsto1/(z-c)\), resp. \(z\mapsto t^{-2}/z-ct^{-1}\); \(\omega^{-1}\) acts by \(z\mapsto1/(tz)\).
- Computation. Ends were taken in \(\mathbb P^1(\mathbb F_p(t))\) (exact polynomial arithmetic), the class of a pair from \(d(v_0,\gamma)\), \(d(v_1,\gamma)\) (valuations of differences of ends, disc model) and the orientation (\(A_+\): first end in \(\mathcal O\), second not). For \(p=2,3,5\) and about 10 000 random geodesics with \(m\le3\), every coefficient of \(T_{s_1}\mathbf 1_O\), \(T_{s_0}\mathbf 1_O\) (all \(O\) with \(m\le5\)) and the action of \(\omega\) agreed with Computation 6.2: 281 387 comparisons, no mismatch.
- Relations. With \(q\) an integer in \(\{2,3,4,5,7,9\}\) and all orbits with \(m\le28\): \(T_s^2=(q-1)T_s+q\) for \(s=s_0,s_1\), \(T_\omega T_{s_0}T_\omega=T_{s_1}\) (with \(T_\omega^2=1\) on \(C_I\), since \(\omega^2=t\cdot\mathrm{Id}\) is central), and \(T_{s_1}\varphi_0=q\varphi_0\). The coefficients are polynomials of degree \(\le1\) in \(q\), so these checks are identities in \(q\).
- Sheaf reading. At \(\gamma\in O'\) rational, the panel \(\mathbb P^1\) is cut by the relative position into rational points, \(\mathbb A^1\) and \(\mathbb A^1\) minus rational points; on each stratum an \(I\)-equivariant Weil object is the pullback of a Weil module (connected stabilizers, Audit 9.1 step 3), so \(R\Gamma_c\) has class \([V]\cdot\{1,[q],[q]-c\}\). Hence \([\Delta_s\ast\mathcal F]=H_s[\mathcal F]\) is the same matrix read with \(q=v^{-2}\); it agrees with Chen–Yi (29) case by case.
- Normalization. \(\operatorname{tr}(\mathrm{Frob},\overline{\mathbb Q}_\ell[1](1/2))=-q^{-1/2}=v\); \((H_s+v)(H_s-v^{-1})=v^2T_s^2+(v^2-1)T_s-1=0\) after substituting \(T_s^2=(q-1)T_s+q\), \(q=v^{-2}\).
